Sponsored
by the Tennessee Department of
Environment and Conservation (TDEC),the
Recycling
Markets
Directory (RMD) is a database that contains information about companies
that purchase recyclable materials. To be listed in the RMD, companies
simply fill out a form with contact information, materials purchased,
service area etc.
Firms with recyclable items to sell can search the RMD in several
ways: by company name, by company location or by the type of materials
purchased. For example, if you know the name of a recycler but not
its location, you can look it up under Company Name. If you don’t
have a particular vendor in mind but want to stay close to home,
you can search by Counties Serviced. Finally, if you know that you've
got cardboard, glass or other recyclable material to sell, you can
search the database for materials recycled. You can save your search
results as an .html file for later viewing through an internet browser,
such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
We encourage all companies that accept recyclable materials generated
in Tennessee to be included in our directory. Companies with expansion
plans in Tennessee will not be added until their facilities are
operational. No city or county recycling collection programs are
included. For more information about these programs, contact TDEC’s
Division of Solid Waste Management at 615-532-0445 or return to the
Solid Waste Management home page.

and will need periodic updates. We welcome corrections and suggestions
on how to serve you better.
Mercury Product Disposal Control Act
Effective January 1, 2011, the Mercury Product Disposal Control Act (the Act) prohibits “covered generators” from disposing “mercury-added consumer products” as non-hazardous solid waste.
Mercury is now a new item when searching the Recycling Markets Directory.
